PROPHECY & FULFILLMENT - Day 20 - March 17, 2016
March 17, 2016 08:56AM
Isaiah 9:6-7, 1 Corinthians 15:25-28; March 17, 2016 - Day 20

THE PROPHESY:

“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6-7

THE FULFILLMENT:

“For [Christ] must be King and reign until He has put all [His] enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be subdued and abolished is death. For He [the Father] has put all things in subjection under His [Christ’s] feet. But when it says, All things are put in subjection [under Him], it is evident that He [Himself] is excepted Who does the subjecting of all things to Him. However, when everything is subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also subject Himself to [the Father] Who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all [be everything to everyone, supreme, the indwelling and controlling factor of life.]” 1 Corinthians 15:25-28

As we look at today’s Scriptures we see that this is a prophesy that has found it’s fulfillment in part with more yet to be fulfilled. Jesus came to set up God’s kingdom upon the earth. When He chose His twelve disciples, the very number “twelve” is symbolic of “government.” When our Beloved Lord was asked by the disciples to teach them to pray, He included in His prayer “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven” knowing that it is our heavenly Father’s will to have His kingdom established upon the earth and He sent His Son to accomplish that. Glory to God! When we truly follow after Christ Jesus we acknowledge Him as the Head, as our Lord, and strive to follow after Him as our Lord of lords.

Let us look at the word “government” according the Funk & Wagnall Dictionary, “The authorities administration of the affairs of a nation, state, city, etc; the jurisdiction exercised over the people, rule.” We have been given a mandate by Jesus Christ of which to follow and which to accomplish upon the earth. And we have seen His “government” increase upon the earth since His death and resurrection and especially over these past few years. Hallelujah! We have, ourselves, experienced the peace He has given as we hold fast to His truths and His reign upon our hearts and souls. So in that this prophecy has been fulfilled.

Yet there is more to come. Christ Jesus will one day return to complete the work He began 2,000 years ago, to bring forth the heavenly government forever more. First He will reign upon the earth for 1,000 battling the forces of evil and overcoming them. Praise be to God!!! During this time Christ will bring everything to subjection to Him. Once this is accomplished He will, at last, defeat forever the greatest enemy of all - death! It will be the final prophesy fulfilled by our Lord and our King. At that time He will subject Himself to the Father, once again showing Himself to be the faithful and loving Son we have seen Him to be through His life upon the earth and through the cross. Jesus, our example to follow.

Today let us take the time to see where our hearts and lives are at. Do we serve the government of this world or the government our Lord and Savior established upon the earth so long ago?
