Proverbs 16:19 - July 31, 2015

v 19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

By all accounts it is better to cast our lot with those who condition is low, than to covet and aim to make a figure [a name] for ourselves in the world. Humility, will expose us to contempt in the world, all the while it recommends us with favour in the eyes of our Father. His favor [grace and mercy] prepares us for his glory, helps us to turn from many temptations, and preserves the quiet of our souls. This is a paradox which the children of this world cannot understand and will not accept, that it is better to be poor and humble in rhe sight of our Lord than to be rich and proud. The meek and lowly Christian is great in the eyes of Godd. A rich man can be humble in the sight of our Lord when he repents and turns away from pride, uses his wealth to advance the kingdom of God and no just to enrich himself,

The man who enriches himself by the spoils of nations is great in the eyes of sinners. Those individuals that divide the spoil are commonly proud; they value themselves and despise others, and their minds rise with their condirion. Those therefore that are rich in this world have a driving need to be in charege of all that is in their influence to control. Those that are proud and will put forth themselves that thrust, and shove and scramble, are the men that commonly divide the spoil and share it among themselves taking no thought for those they have used and stepped upon to get get where they are. They have the world at their will. The honour and wealth of the world, makes God a man's enemy and the devil his master.

Psalm 138:6 - Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
