Day 3 - Deuteronomy 18:15 & John 7:40-42 - February 26, 2016
{THE PROPHECY}

v 15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

This is a prophecy given through Moses about 1260 B.C. while the Israelites were still in the wilderness east of the Jordan river. This prophecy contains another aspect of the character of our messiah, Jesus Christ, he was {and is} a prophet on the order of Moses, but above Moses. The New Testament is full of the prophecies given through Jesus, and maybe some time in the coming months we will cover some of these prophecies, but for now we’re covering the prophecies about the coming messiah and how Jesus Christ has fulfilled these prophecies.

This prophecy was meant to give hope to the Israelites after they had been led through the wilderness for most of the 40 years that the Lord God had decreed. At this point they are camped on the eastern border of Canaan, the promised land.

Have you been through your own wilderness and are now camped on the easterner border of Canaan, your promised land. Do as the Israelites did, cross over that Jordan {eastern border} and take the land {your prophecy or promise}. Do not be afraid to walk right in and take hold of the promises given you.

{THE FULFILLMENT}

v 40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
v 41 Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
v 42 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

Once again scripture is truth upon truth. Verse 40 speaks of many people saying “Of a truth this is the Prophet” {spoken about in Deuteronomy}. Verse 41 is a mini debate on whether this prophet is the Christ {messiah}. In verse 42, people are referring to the prophecy in Micah 5:2. Again God’s word reveals it’s self to be true.

For further reading on “THE FULFILLMENT” please read Acts 3:20-23.

NOTE: I had forgotten to give you the references for further reading on day 1, “born in Bethlehem”. This can be found in Luke 2:4-5, 7, and 15.

Blessings to All
