By His Stripes You are Healed

When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.‘ Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, ‘I am willing; be cleansed.’ Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” Matthew 8:1-3

Oftentimes we are like the leper, wondering if God wants us to be healed. Yet as the Old Testament was the foretelling of the Christ coming to Israel, so did it tell what He would do. We read in Isaiah 53:5, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” While we are quick to seek the salvation Jesus supplied us, it is another matter to accept the healing that He provided us upon the cross. For whatever reason, it is easier to accept the forgiveness of our sins through Christ Jesus than it is to receive the wholeness of spirit, soul and body that was accomplished in it’s entirety through Christ’s life, death and resurrection. Obviously, the enemy does not want us to accept our healing. Rather, he desires to shorten our days upon the earth so that we would not accomplish that which God is asking of us to do. If we have been cleansed from our sin by the cross, are we no longer under the authority of this world and the sickness thereof? God is endeavoring to get us to understand that Jesus accomplished all that was prophesied of Him doing 2,0000 years ago and longer. The prophetic word spoken by Isaiah in chapter 53 was fulfilled by our Lord Jesus Christ. Proof of this is found in John 19:28-30, “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.” Hallelujah! Glory to God!!!

Now, dear saint, it is our job to believe that it is finished, that we walk in the fulfillment of the Scripture by our Lord Jesus Christ. The enemy continues to try and deceive God’s people. We must not believe his lies. Rather we are to believe God’s Word and the Living word which saves us. Amen?
