For Candidates Who Will Listen to God as They Seek to Keep America Safe from Terror Attacks
But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.--Proverbs 1:33
Mighty God, You alone are sovereign and all-knowing, and You see all peoples as they seek dominion and acclaim in the world. You lift up nations and You break them down. We thank You for building up our nation and making it great in the world. Yet we know we are not without sin, and we are vulnerable to attack from many sides. Thank You for Your continued protection over our country.
Lord, I ask that through this election You will raise up leaders who will take seriously the responsibility to keep our nation safe from every kind of attack. Give great insight into the events taking place in the world, and help them to consult with You as they lead, so they may lead without fear. In the powerful name of Jesus, amen.

Father God, as we read You Word we see that sin opens us up to the enemy, pure and simple. If we honestly look at how we, as Your people, have lived our lives more focused on ourselves than Your Word and will for our lives we will see that we have sinned against You. We have taken prayer and Your name out of public schools and do more to allow other faiths to have their say than we do for You and Your Holy Son. Forgives us for this great sin against You. Please, Holy One, turn the hearts of the people back to You for You are worthy of all glory, honor and praise. You paid a high price to place us in right standing with You. It is only through Christ Jesus that our sins can be washed and we made clean. God, we cry out in repentance for this nation and seek Your face earnestly knowing that we do not deserve Your favor nor Your grace but because of Your goodness and Your mercy, we ask that You would turn our hearts as a nation once again to You. Please give us godly men and women to serve in government office and make us seek Your will as a nation rather than listening to the voices of men and others, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
