Heavenly Father, as our Jewish friends and Messianic brothers and sisters in Christ celebrate the Jewish New Year, one of the festivals of the Lord, it is with great reverance and praise that I come before You today.

Holy One, there is no one like You, dear Creator of the heavens and the earth. Father, the coming days are celebrated by Your Chosen People as a time of reflection and repentance. These are the High Holy Days and the Days of Awe. Like the Jewish people of so long ago, we as a nation have wandered so far from You. How this must grieve You and how You must long for us to return back to You anew. Help us, oh God, by Your Spirit to do just that, to repent and draw near unto You, recognizing Who You are and how much we need You.

Father, You sent Your Son that we might be reconciled to You. Let us see each day as a Holy Day unto You, one in which we stand in thanksgiving and awe of all that You have done for us through Your Son Jesus Christ and all that He suffered upon the cross. Like Him, let us arise from the dead and live a holy life before You, seeking Your face and repenting of our sins but also praising You for Who You are and thanking You for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us.

Holy One, open our eyes as a nation that we might recognize our need for You and help us to seek You anew, desiring You above silver or gold, food or drink, or anything that we have foolishly held onto rather than humbling ourselves before You.

Please forgive us, oh God, for we have foolishly thought we could do things in this nation apart from You and Your Written and Living Word. Holy Spirit, please guide us back to our Beloved and may we ever keep our hearts and eyes upon Him, in Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
