Back in the 12th century B.C. (before Christ) there was a prophet who lived near the border of Benjamin and Ephraim. Her name was Deborah and she was the only woman that is known of who was one of Israel's great judges.

She was thought of highly by the leaders and people at that time and was sould out for consul and help in settling their disputes. While many might think God only looked to the men to give them positions of importance we can clearly see that this is not the case. The Bible is filled with woman God called to fulfil very important tasks and matters. As a matter of fact, when Deborah told a military leader that God had instructed him (Barak) to go into battle against Sisera. Barak felt that Deborah's highly esteemed moral leadership was what was needed for his army and he would not go into battle unless Deborah went with him! And, indeed, it was with Deborah by his side that the victory was won and the enemy defeated. Hallelujah!!! You can read about Deborah in Judges 4.

This weeks Biblical Name is:

DEBORAH
