This week’s books of the Bible are Jonah and Micah. Jonah between 793 and 753 B.C. Jonah is the only Old Testament prophet from Galilee. He was called by God to preach repentance to the Gentile nation of Assyria and its capital of Nineveh. But because of fear and pride, Jonah ran away from God rather to the assignment God called him to. We all now the story of Jonah being swallowed by the large fish. It is found in this book.

Micah was written between 735 and 698 B.C. Micah is a prophet “of the common people.” He was direct, rugged and got his message across to them. He told the people of the coming judgment because of their sin. But Micah also brings hope to the people as well, prophesying of their coming Messiah.
