Psalm 91:10-12 - A Stumbling Block
March 04, 2008 08:57AM
“There shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways (of obedience and service). They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Psalm 9l:10-12

It is quite clear here to see that the enemy knew and knows Scripture and will use it in an attempt to cause a stumbling block. That is why it is so imperative that we not only know Scripture but that, like Jesus, we have relationship with the Father so that we will know the heart and will of the Father in every situation.

While knowing Scripture is important, knowing our heavenly Father through fellowship is even more important because the Written Word alone can cause confusion and take us off course from the will of God. Just think, had Jesus lacked fellowship with Abba God and walked only by the Word, He might have responded to what the enemy had to say. Instead, it was His one on one fellowship with the Father that made Him know what He was to do. While the Old Testament is filled with prophecy and the foretelling of the Messiah it was not complete. Even the New Testament is not complete for all prophesy has not be fulfilled as yet and will only be complete Christ Jesus comes as the King of kings and the Lord of lords and the enemy is defeated forever. Hallelujah! What wonders yet await us is yet to come to pass but we are part of the living prophecy today. Glory to God!

While mediating on the devotional today the Holy Spirit showed me that the things Jesus went through we, too, are to go through if we submit to Him and His will is allowed to be done in our lives - even beginning with the virgin birth! Let us think about this. I have often heard Pastor Benny Hinn say that the greatest miracle of all is the miracle of salvation. And is this not so? In the natural we are born under a death sentence because of sin but when we accept Jesus as our Lord we are “born again” of the seed of God and born into life eternal. It is a virgin birth because no man is involved only the Holy Spirit, just as it was with Jesus. It is a miracle of monumental proportion yet do we consider it so or do we just take it for granted. It is something for each one of us to ponder.

Today the enemy uses the Scripture to cause a stumbling block before us. We know Scripture tells us that, as God’s people, we are to prosper and be in good health as well as many other promises that are given us through Christ Jesus. Yet when we go through a time of lack and illness overtakes us do we feel like God has forsaken us, that His Word is not true or do we recall that we are to be living epistle’s of our Lord Jesus Christ, read by every man and that we are to walk in joy no matter what our situation knowing that Philippians 3:10 tells us “that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death” so what I am going through right now is just a process of growing up in Him? “Not my will, but Your will be done, Father” should be the desire of each believers heart such as it is with our Lord Jesus Christ. This is an individual walk, no one can help us submit to the spirit of God. That is and always will be an individual decision of each believer. And we can rest assured that the enemy will try to tempt and deceive us. That is why fellowship with our Lord and Heavenly Father is of the utmost importance as well as knowing the Written Word. Prophecy fulfilled. Will you be part of the prophecy yet to be fulfilled?
