Galatians 5:19-23 - August 12
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." - Galatians 5:19-23
It is very easy to see through these verses the differences of walking in the flesh versus walking in the Spirit. It also gives us some idea how far we have grown in Christ. Are we still doing things in our lives which is common to the works of the flesh or is the Spirit of God in Christ affecting areas in our lives where we are manifesting the fruit of the Spirit?
In the following days we are going to look closely at the work of the flesh and of the Spirit. Let us seek the Lord for understanding and help in changing from the works of the flesh into mature sons and daughters who walk in the fruit of the Spirit. Its time to grow up as His. Its time to hunger after meat of the Word rather than being babes, wanting to be taken care of by God and others. There is no doubt that God watches over His own but its time we manifest Him to a lost and dying world, bringing His love and His hope, allowing His Light to shine and pierce the darkness that is out there. Let it be so, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
