Reading Through the New Testament in Three Months

October 6 - Matthew 13-14

Jesus shares the parable of the sower and the seed in Matthew 13, reminding us how quickly the enemy will try to devour or cause the seed of His Word to not to take strong root. It is up to us to allow it to fall on good soil, tending it and taking care of it along the way. It would behoove us to consider what we do with the Word that is spoken to us or that we read, do we understand the importance and the value of it and not just consume it without meditation and consideration. God's Word is priceless but we will only get as much out of it as that which we invest in it with our time, our attention and our obedience!

In Chapter 15 we read about the death of John the Baptist, Jesus' cousin. It shows how those who walk in sin are eager to destroy that which is good and holy. Jesus didn't let the loss of someone He loved stop Him from doing what God had sent Him to do. He took some time to mourn John's death but didn't allow it to consume Him and place Him off track of God's will. The enemy knows how to use grief. fear, etc. to lay stumbling blocks before us. Do not let his tactics keep you from reaching the full potential of who you are meant to be in Christ Jesus. Let those stumbling blocks turn into stepping stones for the establishing God's Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven!
