Read Through New Testament in Three Months

October 13 - Mark 1 - 3

Mark was not one of the original twelve disciples. He wrote to the Roman Christians abut twenty years or so after Jesus' death and resurrection. it is said he knew Peter and had gone with Paul and Barnabas on first missionary journey.

Mark opens with John the Baptist coming to "prepare the way of the Lord" which was spoken of in the book of Malachi. The Old Testament is the prophetic foretelling of the coming of the Messiah and the New Testament is the fulfilling of those prophecies!

In first chapter of Mark we see much taking place: John preparing way for the Lord; Jesus' baptism by John, Jesus being drawn into wilderness by the Spirit where He is tempted by Satan 40 days, after which He begins His ministry, calls for fishermen as disciples, casts out unclean spirit from man in synagogue, heals Peter's mother-in-law and continues to heal and preach to the people. Not bad for one chapter! LOL It becomes quite clear as you read the next chapters that Mark focuses on the works of Jesus as He went about preaching the Gospel and performing healing and deliverances.

Because of this, Jesus is accused by the scribes from Jerusalem said that He had Beelzebub and that by the rulers of demons He was casting out demons! It is here where Jesus says in March 3:23b-25: "How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom i divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand...".

We would do well to take great heed to that statement, both in the natural and in the spirit. If people of God continue to be divided, how can we stand against the enemy? And if the American people continue to stand in division amongst one another, how can America stand as a nation? It can't. And the enemy has easy access to overtake us when we are divided! God is calling us to come together in unity, regardless of who we want for President! If we call ourselves Christians then Jesus is the head of our body and we must focus on Him and allow unity to draw us closer to our brothers and sisters in Christ and to Him!!!
