October 18 - Mark 12 - 13
In these two chapters we find Jesus speaking truths through parables, which are stories with hidden meanings to convey a moral or spiritual lessons. we also see in these chapters how the pharisees were trying to trip Jesus up by the questions they were putting to Him, hoping to expose Him to the people as a fraud or an unlearned person the the Word. That is why it is important for us also to study the written Word and build a personal relationship with Him Who is the Living Word! in 1 Peter 3:15 we read, "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" (KJV) How can we give an answer to another if we do not know what the Word says in regards to life's situations?
Perhaps the highlight of these two verses is what Jesus tells us about the greatest commands for us to follow, two commandments upon which all the laws of the Old Testament rest upon.We find this in Mark 12:30-31, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’f No other commandment is greater than these.” Let us take some time today consider these verses and if we are taking them to heart and our daily walk as a Christian. May we all draw closer to Him for His glory and honor. Amen.
