Read New Testament in Three Months
November 20 - Romans 4 - 7
In these chapters we read about the importance of faith. In Chapter 4 we read about Abraham and how his faith and trust in the Lord was counted to him as righteousness. Chapter 5 reads we read how we have access through Christ Jesus into this grace which is ours through faith. What I find very interesting in this chapter how our suffering and trials and walking in faith is what brings us growth and maturity of character, it is the opportunity to grow in Him. So often we try to run away from any difficulties or trials yet it is the very thing that will enable us to grow in our faith and bring that transformation into His image.
Chapter 6 of Romans reminds us that we are not to take the grace given to us as a means to walk in sin. Paul tells us that a work took place in Jesus' death and resurrection. As He took all of our sins, nailing them upon the cross once and for all, died, went to hell, and was raised from death, so are we to die with Him in as much as we recognize that sin no longer has a hold on us. Through Christ we have the ability to sin no more, if we come to understand that truth and walk in it. If we continue to let sin led us then we have to consider if we really have accepted Christ as out Lord and understand that we need sin no more because that strength to turn from sin is found within us.
