Read New Testament in Three Months

November 26 - 10 - 13

Paul brings forth a warning to the church at Corinth (and to us as well!) by saying that same provisions that were shown forth through Moses is the same provision He has given us today through His Son. God was with them then and He is with them  in Corinth and wherever you live! But Paul says there were those who did not heed what God was speaking through Moses and they choose to lust after the things of the flesh and other gods. That ought not to be so - then and now! The same temptation that was in Moses' day was in Paul's day and in ours. But God had given us that which they needed and we need to be over comers of these temptations. We need to be aware that need not live by the flesh, but by His Spirit. We are to do all things to the glory of God. God will hold us accountable to our actions and we must know that because of Christ in us, we have the ability to stop the power of sin in our lives.

Paul encourages the people to walk as he does because he follows after Christ.  Paul shares how a woman's head is to be covered as an example that man is her covering just as we know that Christ Jesus is our covering as His Bride. For the man, Paul talks about man not to minister with his head covered  for it is a shame to Him. In the natural, God has created man to cover the woman, to be the head as Christ is the Head of the body of Christ and His Bride. I see this as a prophetic message from Paul, that His Bride is covered by Him, Christ Jesus and that those in the body who walk according to His will should not be silent to the fact that Christ is our Head and to Him goes all glory and honor.

There is more that Paul shares in these chapters how we are to walk as believers in Christ and to pay attention to the things they are doing in the church that are not glorifying to God. He talks about the gifts given to them by God and how they are to be used in the church gathering so it does not cause disruption and disorder.

Chapter 13 is known by many as the love chapter. Paul makes it clear that, no matter what we do, if we do not do it out of love then it will have no lasting benefit for all these gifts will cease to be but love (charity) will never cease. Let us meditate on this chapter and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us how we are doing in walking in God's love one towards another...
