Read New Testament in Three Months

November 29 - 2 Corinthians 5 - 8

As Paul shares his heart with the church at Corinth, of his love and joy in the church and he includes his reasons for sending the reproof and direction. With this said, chapter 5 is what I will be focusing on today. How amazing is our God and His love towards us. Never doubt it and always cling to Christ Jesus in each and every situation you go through in life.

Reading Chapter 5 this morning grabbed my attention right away and knew this was the chapter the Holy Spirit was impressing upon the church, highlighting it in the spirit, if you will. After reading the other chapters, I came back to read this one and recognized that it is the embodiment of what our Lord's accomplished for us through His life on earth, death and resurrection. It is the epitome of God's grace towards a sinful, lost and dying world. How amazing to see even the number of this chapter "5" is a message from our Heavenly Father since the number "5" biblically stands for "grace." Truly, what an awesome God we serve. What a mighty and awesome God we serve. He has "written" so much in His Word, declaring His goodness and love towards us. Thank You, Abba!

Let us delve some into this chapter and see what is set before us:

1. Right now we have an earthy tent which is our bodies that will one day be destroyed and we have       waiting for us a building made from God, a house not made with hands and is eternal in the                heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1

2. Our bodies are a tent, a covering of spirit and at the present is mortal but that will change when it is       swallowed up by life [after the resurrection.] 2 Corinthians 5:4

3. Through the Holy Spirit (and because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ), we are being
prepared for this new tent/body while still in this human one. 2 Corinthian 5:5 Double grace here           (5:5) for we cannot make this change by ourselves and therefore have been given the Holy Spirit         to give the help needed to make this transformation out of the old into the new. Praise be to God!        Thank You, Jesus!

4. We see how the disciples felt it important to win people to the Lord, out of fear and reverence for          Him but also knowing that He knew their heart and their desire to please Him and hoping that              others could see that from their walk as well, adding many to God's Kingdom.. 2 Corinthians 5:11

5. Paul says they now seek not to look upon man by his flesh but rather by the Spirit. For as we read      in 2 Corinthians:17, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed      away; behold, all things are become new."

When we except Christ Jesus we become a new creation. The Holy part of man's spirit died in the garden because of sin. When we are born into this world through our parents we are spirit, soul an body but we do not have that part of God which is Holy. It is only through Christ that part is born again in us. What the first Adam lost in the garden the second Adam redeemed for all mankind, if they will receive it. This new creature in Christ comes as a babe and needs to grow just as a baby in the natural does. You can receive Christ as your Lord when you are forty years old but you will still be as a babe in Him. That is why it is so important to know God's Word, both written and manifested as well as spending time with our Heavenly Father. We are no longer of this world but we are partakers of our Heavenly Father's Kingdom. We need guidance to learn God's ways for one day we will be held accountable for what we did as a child of God endowed with spiritual gifts. So many within the church do not know this truth and think that Jesus did everything for them. While Jesus paid for our salvation, the Bible still tells us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. What salvation if Jesus already saved us? It is the salvation of our bodies that we work out. Our spirits have been made Holy through Christ Jesus' death and resurrection but our bodies, that which houses the spirit within, goes through a process of growing in/with the Lord - or not. Free will has been given to all mankind. We can choose who we serve. We would do well to serve Him which created us and who loves us, don't you think? And we would also do well to love one another and judge them for we do not know the spiritual age of one we meet. Like mentioned before, one can be born again at forty years of age but still be a babe in Christ. God forbid that we would cause them to stumble because we think they should be further in their walk with the Lord then they are. I pray I remember this in my daily walk! smiling smiley
