Read New Testament in Three Months
December 20 - 1 John 1 - 3
1 John was written by the apostle of the same name between 85 and 96. John is writing this letter to the mature believers, those who are grounded in the truth yet there are false teachers trying to bring them into error and it this concern that John is addressing, especially regarding those who are teaching Gnostic theories. Unfortunately, there were those who followed that belief system throughout the early church. All I can say is, praise God for His Word. It is within these pages that we can learn what is coming from Him and what is not. Gnostism teaches that all in the natural is evil yet we learn from the very beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the animals, fish, etc., that He saw it was good. Just because man (and the enemy) has perverted that which God made perfectly, we can not just assume that it is bad or evil. Let us not forget, the Word tells us that the wages of sin is death and that can also mean a decline from its created perfection to a lower state as we have seen taking place all around the world, a result of man's sin.
Read this first book/epistle of John and learn to strive always for the truth of God's Word and not the watered down, deceptive work of man to try and bring God's people into confusion and separation from that which is perfect. Let us not walk in darkness but in the glory of His Light and His Truth and let us bring our Heavenly Father honor through His Son, Jesus Christ. Amen? Amen.
