Revelation 1:5 - Valentines Day

"And from Jesus Christ the faithful and trustworthy Witness, the Firstborn of the dead [first to be brought back to life] and the Prince (Ruler) of the kings of the earth. To Him Who ever loves us and has once [for all] loosed and freed us from our sins by His own blood." Revelation 1:5

We are going to join with those world over who are celebrating Valentine's Day and acknowledge the greatest lover of all, Jesus, the lover of our soul. How can we not speak of Him this day and tell Him how much we love Him, how He sets our heart a flutter when we think of Him and how we long to have His arms wrapped around us, to gaze into His eyes and be lost in the love He has for us?

In this crazy world we hear of love gone wrong, unfaithful lovers, unrequited love, self-serving love, unhealthy love and the list goes on. Many this day we feel left out as they see or hear of others receiving Valentine's Day cards, gifts, flowers. They will feel unloved, unwanted and their hearts will not feel whole as we see those bright red hearts representative of Valentine's day for their hearts will be broken. But, oh, if only they recognized that the sweetest love of all was knocking at their door waiting to be let in.

Can you hear Him knocking? He's there, waiting for you to open the door of your heart. Unlike the lovers of this world He is always faithful. There will be no sleepless night worrying that He's left you for another. His love for you is faithful and true. What peace that brings to the heart! He is trustworthy. You can tell Him anything and not worry that He will take that which you have told Him and use it to embarrass you or munipulate you. When you give your heart to Jesus He will never abuse it and will always love you above His own life. And you never have to worry about Him not loving you back because to Him loving you comes natural. His love is unending and the very neat thing is, He will never leave you nor forsake you! Wow! In this roller coaster world isn't it wonderful to find a love that is stable, steady and sure instead of shaky, sick and sorry? Whew! Talk about a lover who is out of this world and you're talking about Jesus!!!

Now you guys might think we're just addressing the ladies here but that is not the case. Jesus loves you, too. This is not gender oriented for with God there is neither male nor female. This love that we are speaking about that Jesus has for mankind goes beyond the natural. His love is spiritual going into the depth of our souls, healing and restoring that which the love of this world can beat down, steal from, stealing our joy and even our vision in life. The love Jesus offers is life giving. It promises hope and heals the wounded. The love Jesus offers is endless and is always there. You don't have to work to earn it for it has already been given. And, besides, in the natural you know how hard it is for you guys to pick out a gift for the love in your life. Well, with Jesus its as simple as can be - just give Him your heart.

As the world exchanges its gifts of love, remember the greatest gift of all that was given to you and me, God's most treasured possession, His Son Jesus Christ. When you see the red hearts that decorate and express this day remember the stripes He bore and the blood He shed for you and me, for the remission of our sins and for our healing.
