Prayer for the Republic of Cuba
October 19, 2007 09:32AM
The Republic of Cuba consists of the island of Cuba the largest and second-most populous of the Greater Antilles, the Isle of Youth , and several adjacent small islands.

Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean at the confluence of the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Cuba is south of the eastern United States and the Bahamas, west of the Turks and Caicos Islands and Haiti and east of Mexico. The Cayman Islands and Jamaica are to the south.

The island has a tropical climate that is moderated by the surrounding waters; however, the warm temperatures of the Caribbean Sea and the fact that the island of Cuba sits across the access to the Gulf of Mexico make Cuba prone to frequent hurricanes.

Cuba has a multitude of faiths reflecting the island’s diverse cultural elements. Catholicism, which was brought to the island by Spanish colonists at the beginning of the 16th century is the most prevalent professed faith. After the revolution, Cuba became an officially atheistic state and restricted religious practice but since the Fourth Cuban Communist Party Congress in 1991 restrictions have been eased and, according to the National Catholic Observer direct challenges by state institutions to the right to religion have all but disappeared. Protestantism introduced from the United States in the 18th century, has seen a steady increase in popularity. 300,000 Cubans belong to the island’s 54 Protestant denominations. Pentecostalism has grown rapidly in recent years and the Assemblies of God alone claims a membership of over 100,000 people. The Episcopal Church of Cuba claims 10,000 adherents. Cuba has small communities of Jews, Muslims and members of the Bahá'í faith. Most Jewish Cubans are descendants of Polish and Russian Ashkenazi Jews who fled pogroms at the beginning of the 20th century. There is however a sizeable number of Sephardic Jews in Cuba who trace their origin to Turkey.

Prayer:

Dearest Heavenly Father as I approach your throne I need for you to take heed of the Republic of Cuba and the people thereof. Please send your ministering angels to bind up the wounds that your people have for your word that has so repressed because of the government that they live under. Forgive the sin and love the sinner as you have taught. Placed guardian angels about the land so that they might protect the people as they go about their daily lives. Loosen their lips so that they can shout to the Lord all honor and glory due your magnificent name.

In this I so earnestly pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Yes, Holy One, let it be as my husband has requested of You. It is in alignment with Your Word and Your will. Let these dear people rise up in Truth and in Spirit. May they be set free from all oppression and may Your Son's name be forever on their heart enabling them to enter Your throne room through Him that You sent to restore them back to You. Let it be so, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
